Facilitating Effective Transition of Careleavers to Independence

Empowering Care Leavers Across India

Why this Matters

Transitioning from institutional care to independent living presents significant challenges for care leavers. Many face the adverse effects of institutionalization, coupled with the absence of essential social, emotional, and financial support systems. Without the safety net of a family, they are at a higher risk of falling into the cycle of poverty.

Mission Vatsalya: A Beacon of Support

Under the Government of India’s Mission Vatsalya, care leavers receive aftercare support to ensure a smooth transition to adulthood. This initiative provides financial assistance to young adults aged 18 to 23, helping them reintegrate into society and become self-reliant.

A Network Run by Care Leavers, for Care Leavers

Aide et Action is proud to coordinate efforts with care leavers, driving the establishment of a national platform that is managed by care leavers themselves. Together, we aim to build a future where every care leaver is empowered to lead a life of dignity and independence.
